The US President George Bush Administration’s five-year global-scale war against terrorism has to date claimed more than 72,000 human lives, mostly civilian lives. According to the British daily “The Independent”, over 30,000 people have been killed in Iraq alone. The periodical points out that the invasion of Iraq and the toppling of the Taliban regime in Afghanistan have failed to bring stability and democracy to those countries.
